Startup launches to fix broken EV battery market, saving billions in lost value

REBATTEX is a new AI-driven B2B platform addressing a growing challenge in electrification: how to safely and efficiently manage the secondary market for EV batteries. By combining data-driven validation, structured documentation, and an exchange model, REBATTEX aims to create a more transparent and scalable market for batteries that would otherwise risk being lost in the system.

Startup launches to fix broken EV battery market, saving billions in lost value

Swedish startup REBATTEX is launching a platform to bring order to one of the EV industry’s most overlooked problems: what happens to batteries after they leave the car.  Every year, thousands of EV batteries are removed due to accidents, recalls and early replacements. Many still work – but instead of being reused, they are often written off, mishandled or treated as waste. “There’s no shortage of batteries or buyers – the market is broken because it’s too risky to act due to a lack of tools, systems and processes that create structure,” says Andy Rietschel, CEO and co-founder of

REBATTEX. The company is building a smart B2B infrastructue where used EV batteries can be traded with built-in compliance, traceability and end-to-end documentation – something the founders believe is missing today.  According to REBATTEX, unclear responsibility, lack of standardised data and complex regulation are holding the market back – despite growing demand from sectors like energy storage and vehicle repair. “Right now, value is lost because no one wants to take the risk. We’re removing that friction and make the process easy to follow,” says CEO Andy Rietschel. The exchange

platform is now opening for Early Access and aims to become a key infrastructure layer for the emerging second-life battery market in Europe. REBATTEX has been admitted to Sting, Sweden’s leading startup accelerator/incubator . The founding team consists of Andy Rietschel, Pär Melin and Tobias Wåhlén, combining deep experience across automotive, circular economy, digital platforms and regulated markets. About Rebattex Rebattex is building the smart exchange infrastructure for the circular battery economy, enabling safe, compliant, and efficient trading of second-life EV batteries.
